How to copy a Confluence Cloud space with more than 2,000 pages
Guide · Full Space Copy · Last updated: 20 October 2026
Confluence Cloud has no way to copy a whole space, and its page copy stops at 2,000 pages. Full Space Copy copies an entire space in one operation, whatever its size: pages, blog posts, comments, attachments, permissions and settings, with every link pointing to the new space.

Confluence Cloud can copy a page with its children, but not a space. Above 2,000 pages, the copy is refused outright:
You are trying to copy too much content, the maximum is 2000.- Blog posts, space templates, comments and space permissions are not part of a page copy.
- Copying a large space in several batches leaves every link between two batches pointing to the old space.
- Exporting the space and importing it back relies on XML export, which Atlassian stops supporting in Confluence Cloud on 1 December 2026.
What Full Space Copy copies
- Every page, at the same place in the tree, with no page limit.
- Blog posts, folders, whiteboards, databases and Smart Link embeds.
- Comments with their replies, attachments, labels and page restrictions.
- Space templates, space permissions, look and feel, description and categories.
- Links between pages, rewritten so they open the copy instead of the original.
Copy a space, step by step
- Install Full Space Copy from the Atlassian Marketplace.
- In Confluence, open Apps, then Full Space Copy, and stay on Copy a space.
- Under Space to copy, pick the space.
- Under New space, give the copy its key and name.
- In Options, add a prefix before each title if both spaces will live side by side.
- Under When to copy, choose Now, Tonight at 2 am, or another day.
- Select Copy the space, and follow the progress under Your copies.
Large spaces, in minutes
Full Space Copy works page by page in the background, so a space of several thousand pages copies in minutes, not hours. You can close the page while it runs. If Confluence slows the copy down or something interrupts it, the copy picks up where it stopped instead of starting again.
When it ends, a copy report and a proof dossier list what was copied, what was skipped and why, ready to hand to a reviewer or an auditor.
After the copy
- Compare the copy with the source space, page by page.
- Keep the copy up to date every day with the changes made in the source.
- Add the space logo in a few seconds: Confluence does not let apps set it, so Full Space Copy hands it to you to drop in Space settings.
Try it on your site
Full Space Copy is free for up to 10 users and comes with a free trial for larger sites, straight from the Atlassian Marketplace. It runs entirely on Atlassian's infrastructure: your content never leaves Confluence.
